Did anyone have a difficult time having a dog from a shelter adjust to their home life?
One of my chihuahuas was from a shelter, but she wasn’t there very long. She came in on a saturday, I saw her sunday and was able to take her home on wednesday (couldn’t adopt until she was spayed there). However, that chihuahua was 10 months old and she had lived with a family, so she wasn’t a stray. But she had separation anxiety. Whenever I would leave she would cry (real tears) and tear up the rug. I started leaving the radio on for her and that calmed her down. I guess she felt less alone with the music? It took a few months, but eventua;;y she no longer needed the music and she doesn’t destroy the rugs any more. She also must have been a city dog because she didn’t like the grass at all in the yard. I set her down on the grass and you should have seen the way she picked up her feet! It was if it was the most strangest thing under her paws. She walked like a clydesdale horse pulling her feet up high in the air. She finally adjusted to the grass and now enjoys rolling around. My ot
