There’s nothing that new about this, really. The Navy has been using dolphins for various military purposes (not porpoises) for years. There was a really great movie from the 1970s starring George C. Scott called Day of the Dolphin in which the Navy wants to use dolphins for this kind of thing, and the scientist who trains them thinks it’s wrong to do so. You should check that out.
