Did anyone actually believe there was a real bomb at Midwood High School?”
Yes because the kid did have the makings to the bomb in his backpack. Childish pranks that aren’t taken seriously can turn very serious very quickly. Article with more information: A 14-year-old Brooklyn high school student was arrested after police found in his backpack the materials needed to make a bomb, police said Thursday. The teen, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said, appeared intent on making a “Hindenburg” — a chemical reaction device that is made with Liquid Plumber, deodorant and a balloon, and can cause at least some injury. “It has some explosive capacity, but not much,” Kelly said. ‘It sounds like it’s just sort of a childish prank.” The suspect, whose name was not released because he was charged as a juvenile, was talking to a fellow student inside Midwood High School Wednesday afternoon when a teacher overheard him talking about the bomb, Kelly said. A police officer assigned to the school was notified and took the student to the dean’s office to search his backpack. I
A teacher had overheard the 14-year old Brooklyn high school student, talking to a Midwood High School classmate about the bomb. The teacher notified the police, and when his locker was searched the materials needed to make the bomb were found in his backpack. Based on what was in the backpack, it appears he planned to make a “Hindenburg”. That’s a chemical reaction device made with Liquid Plumber, deodorant and a balloon. While this bomb doesn’t have the capacity for a lot of damage, it still has the possibility to cause injury. The student’s name was not released because he was charged as a juvenile. He didn’t appear to be targeting anyone or have any anger towards anyone at the school. For now authorities believe that he was planning this as more of a prank.
