Did any good come out of the hippie movement?
You’ve had several valid responses already to answer your question to which I can not add more. I am glad that the hippie movement didn’t engulf us all, for salaries had to be earned, and families supported. The hippies I knew, hung out, smoke and drank and ate other peoples food much of the time. They crashed and hung their hats wherever they happened to be. Life was a merry go round, and being laid back was the rule. Working was for someone else, while they were finding themselves. Hitchhiking was the only way to see the open roads. Most of my generation were wannabes’ it was safer that way. We had mouths to feed, and responsibilities. Something the hippie generation had dropped out from. I only see some men with longer hair and paunching bellies today. I don’t see hippies. The younger ones who are too lazy to cut their hair, have girlfriends who love it long, and call it ‘sexy’.
