Did aliens make methane on Mars?
Scientists say alien organisms may be responsible for the large amount of methane that has been found on Mars. The discovery, which has been reported in the journal Science, was made using three large telescopes in Hawaii to scan the Martian atmosphere for seven years. Living organisms are responsible for for more than 90% of the methane in the Earth’s atmosphere which suggests life forms may have created the gas on the Red Planet. The BBC asked planetary scientist Professor Colin Pillinger what he thought of the latest research.
