Did a race of giants and gianteses pepole ever exist on earth?
Giants and giantesses are such an obvious hoax that most countries had become too sophisticated to fall for such stories by the early eighteenth century. The most famous exception is the Cardiff Giant, which convinced a large American audience that Giants lived in New York as recently as 1869. The Cardiff Giant was an obvious statue, but Americans couldn’t believe this. The Giant had genitals, and everybody knows statues don’t have genitals. The Cardiff Giant hoax convinced enough Americans to raise over $50,000 (at 1870 prices), and was only finally exposed when rival hornswogglers fell out over who got the take.
