Did a Gurkha regiment go to Vietnam and help the Americans in the war?

The story sounds like another imaginary war-story, but there are plausible bits to it. There were many mercenary soldiers hired by the US and others to fight in Indochina, but there’s no mention of any Ghurka troops, who served under British officers. The UK did not fight in Indochina after the Japanese surrender and departure, ’45-46, though Ghurka regiments fought in Korea. Viet Nam after ’54 was a US and SEATO operation, no NATO units served. There are about a dozen airports in Laos, not including the many military strips cleared for temporary use during the Second Indo-China war. And Russian and Chinese military personnel did fight in Indo-China against the Americans and its allied forces. Indigenous Lao tribes were fierce, able soldiers who hated the North Vietnamese and its Communist government.
