DHCP Serving Static IPs?
Question: The DHCP server built into this switch tends not to give me the same IP. I will go from .101 to .102 to .103 and so on. This is a serious problem as I am trying to forward ports to what becomes a moving target address. Is there any way to configure it to give me a static DHCP address? Has anybody experimented with replacing the dhcp server with another one, say ISC’s dhcpd? Answer: Give yourself a static address below the DHCP range. e.g. 192.168.1.10 Response to Answer: I could just use a static IP, but this is clearly a problem with the DHCP server, and I’d rather just fix the functionality within the router itself.
