Define rezoning or reallocation of land?
With the growth of towns and cities further land must be designated to allow for the building of further residential, commercial and industrial units. For this to take place the local authority needs to change the use of a particular area of land, a term known as re-zoning or re-allocation. At the stage that a site is re-zoned a developer may then submit plans to the relevant Local Planning Authorities for approval for a residential housing development or mixed use scheme (residential and commercial).
