Its not post dating checks, its setting up an automatic withdrawl the same way most people do with all their other bills. However, the collection agency is just screwing with him trying to get all their money upfront. I have a medical collection agency doing the same thing to me. The are more than willing to accept any payment any way I want to make it, but will only take me out of collections with a payment plan of atleast 100 per month set up on auto withdrawl. I believe it is technically illegal but I havnt looked up the laws for my self, I simply tell them that until they are ready to make a payment plan at 20 a month they arent getting anything out of me. Although depending on how much the delinqunicy is and what its for, it may be better off for him to just go ahead and go on the payment plan and get it paid, or better yet find the money to make a lump sum settlement (must colllections will settle for incredibly small amounts like as small as a few hundred sometimes if you are wi
