Dear Nanny: My child has been put in foster care for six months. Can I do anything to regain custody before the six month period is up?
Perhaps, if you involve your parents or a relative and they present a comprehensive Plan of Care to the Court they could get your child out of Foster Care earlier. More and more grandparents are stepping up. For CAS/CCAS the name of the game is to keep the child for eighteen months. I have not heard of a parent getting their child out of Foster Care before six months. Keep thinking about the best interests of the child.
