Answer- Ears should be checked and cleaned weekly. Cleaning the ears with a dog specific ear cleaner on a tissue or cotton ball helps reduce the build up of wax and debris which can lead to ear disease. Do not attempt to clean the inner ear canal at any time (No cotton buds). In many breeds, such as the cocker spaniel, the excess hair needs to be clipped away from around and inside the ear flap to allow for better air circulation because their long hair can fall into their food bowls. In other breeds such as poodles, the excess hair in the ear canal needs to be removed to prevent build up wax, debris and to increase air circulation.
