I agree with the yellow (gold), blue (greyed), white (warm) scheme as a choice. Gold is fantastic with Grey! I think running a blue grey carpet will enhance the flow of slate. Choosing another color will only chop up your space. Grey doesn’t have to give you a cave like feeling nor does it need to be dark. It can be a blending medium shade. It is true that if you have a low lit Northern exposure, you would want to use a warmer Grey but Grey is a “classic neutral” as are the beiges and your slate will determine the undertone. In fact, I just toured the Benjamin Moore factory and listened to the 2010 color forecasts. Grey is pulling rank. Look at the dresses worn at the Oscars. Go into a department store, see what is going on there. The undertones of colors are changing with the primary yellows, reds and blues as influence.
