Plyometric exercises are designed to increase all types of power, explosive and jumping movements — vertical, horizontal, lateral, multi-planar, first-step, etc. One could be working on horizontal plyometric exercises and it can still benefit ones vertical power. I say this because I believe its important to train with a multi-planar approach to plyometric training. One shouldnt only work on vertical jumping. Lateral, horizontal and multi-planar loading and repetitions are essential in basketball.
