We have over 300 clubs and organizations at Vanderbilt. If a club does not exist- you can create your own. Tell folks about your extra-curricular activities. Do I have to be in a sorority or fraternity at Vanderbilt? I hear that you do. No, approximately 40% of the undergraduate students at Vanderbilt are in sororities/fraternities. The Greek system is strong at Vanderbilt and a lot of students choose to participate. HOWEVER, there is plenty to do outside of the Greek system, which is evident with a majority of our students being independent. Rush, for men and women, is deferred until Spring of Freshmen year; sorority and fraternity houses are non-residential with only the top 6 officers living in the house. The key to happiness at Vanderbilt (or at any University) is to get involved, Greek life provides merely one of the hundreds of opportunities for involvement on campus.
