We are phasing out the sessional academic trial and from the first semester in 2010 all sessional academics will either need to be set up as casuals – and follow the new casual employee process or, alternatively you may wish to set them up on a fixed term contract. The new EBA recognises teaching only staff which may provide more options for managing your casuals. If you have already begun issuing sessional contracts for the second semester 2009, your staff can remain as sessionals for this year and follow the same process they have previously, or you can set them up as casuals, following the new process. The Position Management team will be including sessional academics in the position structure review they are currently conducting.
