CTA is in The Netherlands. Is it a Dutch organisation?
No. CTA was set up in 1984 under the Lomé Agreement between the EU and the ACP (African, Caribbean, Pacific) Group. At the time, one of the EU Member States, The Netherlands, offered a ‘home’ for CTA in Wageningen. The first premises were in Ede. CTA’s telephone number – 22484 – was chosen because that was the day CTA opened its offices in Ede! Ede is near Wageningen, a city which houses many agricultural institutions, including the world-renowned Wageningen Agricultural University and Research Centre. It moved to its present premises in Wageningen in 1996.
