Coumadin & Artificial Aortic Valve Question: I have an artificial aortic valve and all appears to be going OK, but just recently my INR is going down even though my doctor continues to increase my coumadin. Why is it going down?
Could be a lot of different reasons. Something is changing your liver metabolism or your diet is increasing in Vitamin K. Any of several drugs could cause this. I wouldn’t spend a lot of time trying to figure it out unless it is markedly variable. Strange Side Effects Question: I am just a little guy, a patient on Coumadin, 73, under a physician’s care. I have lost 100 pounds in the last year and feel great. I mean great. I exercise by swimming and my Doctor is pleased. I have a problem which does not worry him. He says it is very common. My heart beat is not totally in rhythm. I get these short circuits and don’t even notice it but my heart beat is not totally rhythmic. To lessen the chances of clots forming he has prescribed Coumadin and I am monitored closely. My problem is a possible side effect. It bothers me. It doesn’t really bother my Doctor.
