I’m not sure how you’re defining the term, “postpunk new wave,” but I’m guessing you mean bands like the Smithereens, Screaming Blue Messiahs, REM, Concrete Blonde, Elvis Costello, Bodeans, U2, and Pretenders. Or if you want to put more emphasis on the New Wave aspect, maybe you mean groups like the Romantics and B-52s. Can’t go wrong with any of these. I love that early 80s college-radio rock.
