Could you describe the process you use from performing the survey through to utilizing the raw data in conjunction with modelling software?
During the data capture phase our principal equipment for industrial survey as-built purposes on conventionally laid out units is a Leica HDS Scan-Station. Where necessary we may use a Leica HDS 6000 phase based scanner to acquire dense plant data at short range. We also survey in parallel with our Sokkia MONMOS system to coordinate scanning control and reference points to 1mm accuracy. This critical dimensional control surveying forms the back-bone of our geo-referenced and dimensionally correct point cloud. Additionally, we create a fully registered point cloud while on-site to verify completeness of our scans. Our methodology and our significant petrochemical surveying experience ensure both completeness and critical positional accuracy. Once we have returned this data to the office (which can be done from site via satellite link if required) our CAD specialists model using the latest Leica Cyclone software under the direction of our surveying supervisors. When that model is created
