Organised Immigration Crime falls into two categories: people smuggling involves the facilitation of illegal migration for profit, normally of individuals who have sought help to migrate; and human trafficking, in essence, occurs where there is intent or knowledge of intent to exploit the victim, which need not be limited to migrants and can be applied to UK citizens. Human trafficking refers to the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons by means of the threat or use of force, or other forms of coercion, abduction, fraud, deception, the abuse of power or a position of vulnerability, the giving/receiving of payments/benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person for the purpose of exploitation.
