Could World War 2 been prevented?

I think that one of strongest reasons leading Germans to second war was the economic crisis that turned up after World War I. After losing the war Germany was punished according to the “collective guilt” they had for the war. So Germany had to pay for most of the war reparations and lost some land too. This harsh punishment led to ridiculously high inflation. And from this situation came the deep despair helping Hitler to gain the power so quickly and not really legally. I also think that the leading nations realized their fault from 1918 at the end of World War II and that´s why then they treated Germany differently. Well, maybe I am looking at this far too simply. And the economic crisis in Germany was probably just one of 100 other aspects. However I can see the common people wanting the war when they don´t have much left anyway. And here comes Hitler, very efficient speaker, who is able to persuade them that war is the only way out.
