Could wearing tampons all day and night cause TSS?
TSS is rare, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use tampons correctly, it’s also not just about TSS as tampons commonly cause vaginal infections and improper use is plain unhygienic. Other people may have not had TSS but that makes them lucky, it doesn’t mean improper tampon use is safe, it is without doubt that they have had vaginal infections and negatively effected their vagina through improper use and just because they take risks doesn’t mean you should too. You need to change every 4-6 hours, not every 8, the risks are present no longer how long you use a tampon but the longer you wear one the longer you give bacteria to multiply within your vagina. You shouldn’t use tampons back-to-back, the reason is that tampons prevent your vagina from cleaning itself out so keep bacteria and tampon fibres within your vagina, when you remove a tampon those things remain and are added to by the next tampon you use.
