Could this have affected blood samples testing for diabetes and similar illnesses?

Well his glucose levels should of been back in the normal range two hours after eating anyway so not immensely. Not sure about the lack of sleep but stress and illness can raise blood sugar levels. I would tell your parents about this as not sleeping when sick and stuffing up test results is pretty silly; it sounds like your brother doesnt want to get well or perhaps is faking it – unless not sleeping is a symptom which the doctor should know about. When it comes down to it though; if he is a type1 diabetic it should definitely show up in the test results, there is a point where no matter what you eat, your sugar levels will never get that high.

He should not have eaten, but his blood sugar wouldn’t be affected unless he ate an hour or two before the actually blood work. He may very well have high sugar.

Most tests are to be done fasting. He did not fast, therefore the tests are affected. His test results were not in normal and that’s why they are retesting. He needs to take this stuff seriously. And by the way the tests aren’t free so he is wasting money and time.
