First, ear infections are horrifically painful. I had one a few years back and couldn’t believe what kids are suffering. Second, while this is so stressful for you all, your child is not likely afraid of your fiance. The good news is that your child is brilliant and strong. He knows what he needs and is communicating to you with all he’s got. When our son was born, my company reneged on their agreement to let me work from home, because they realized it would set a precedent. I would drop our son off with my husband at his company on his lunch hour and then go to work. My mom was on her way home from work and would pick our son up from dh. Then, 3 hours later, dh picked up son and took him home. We were having it all! I cried missing my son, but magazines said that was just me, that he didn’t mind and would benefit being away from me.
