Could the UK ever become a Republic and retain control of Wales and Scotland?

Most of the population of the UK is in England. It’s hard to see how the Celtic states would be financially viable without some form of alliance with England even if this is through the EU. A few weeks ago, there was a demonstration of trade unionists, republicans, students and the Socialist Workers Party that attracted 20,000 people. The Royal Wedding attracted crowds of over a million to London and was watched on TV by half the world’s population (which is remarkable when you consider that a quarter of the world’s population have no access to TV). The chances of the UK becoming a republic in your lifetime are pretty remote.

Stop talking Rubbish. Scotland and Wales are the UK along with England and Northern Ireland. I am from Scotland and we aren’t “controlled” by England we are part of the same country we are a country in a country if you like a one of a kind. Most decisions regarding Scotland are made in Scotland’s own parliment only major stuff like national defence are made in Westmister same with Wales and Northern Ireland. The Royal family don’t actually have any power over the country they are just figure heads and a tourist attraction and a valuable part of our history they are desendants of Englands royal family and Scotlands royal family. The Royals bring in around 2 billion pounds to the country every year and they only cost the country around 100 million a year. If the Royals were disbanded we would still be part of the United Kingdom nothing would change. I’m Scottish and British and proud as are 85% of people in the UK the rest are made up of delusioned Scot’s and Welsh people who have seen B
