Could the screw thats used in the Tiger Claw split the decking board?

The screw could possibly just catch the bottom edge of the decking board. If by chance the edge splits, it is not visible from the top of the deck and it does not jeopardize the hold the fastener has on the deck board. The screw holds the fastener, and the fastener holds the board.
