Could T2 Help with Weight Loss? Thursday September 30, 2004 #spacer{clear:left}#abc #sidebar{margin-top:1.5em}zSB(3,3)In animal studies, researchers looked at the effects of another naturally occurring iodothyronine, 3,5-diiodo-L-thyronine (known as T2), to determine if it could raise metabolism and burn fat without inducing throtoxicity. In the study, T2 treatment resulted in a reduction of body weight gain (-13%), fat accumulation (-50%), serum cholesterol (-20%) and tryglicerides (-50%), compared to untreated high-fat fed animals. Heart rate, T4, T3 and TSH levels were unchanged, indicating that the T2 did not induce thyrotoxicosis. Tthe researchers concluded that ” If these results hold true for humans, pharmacological administration of T2 might help to counteract pathologies linked to hyperlipidemic states without inducing a thyrotoxic state.” NOTE: The desiccated natural thyroid drugs, i.e., Armour, Nature-throid and Biotech, include T2 as part of their overall component hormones
