Could symptoms of heat exhaustion be mistaken for hypoglycemia?
Yes they could be mistaken especially if the heat exhaustion has not reached the point where sweating stopped. Generally a person with low blood sugar is cold not hot to the touch and someone with heat exhaustion is hot. However there is a chance of missing. This is one good reason for a diabetic to wear a med ID bracelet or locket or dogtag. The person themself could also make that mistake. Adding to the problem is that both situations cause some mental fogginess or confusion. For the person themself if they are not sure which the problem is some cool juice and getting into a cool place is a good start. If anyone is around or you have a cell and can call someone tell them you are diabetic and think you have either heat exhaustion or low blood sugar and are not sure which.
