Could Sutton hospital development plans benefit people in flats to rent?

People living in flats to rent in the London borough of Wandsworth could benefit from new developments to a local medical centre. Plans have just been put forward for Springfield Hospital in Tooting and it is hoped redevelopment could see a new 25,000 sq m facility put in its place. The proposals from the South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust would also see mental health facilities replaced and 839 homes built on the site. Planning officials are currently contacting local residents to hear their views on the matter. They will also be asked to look at plans to construct a 3,700 sq m commercial, retail and business space, as well as community facilities, a care home and a new primary school at the site. Meanwhile, councillors recently rejected development plans for a site in Southfields because they did not consider there to be enough affordable housing in the proposals.
