Could Steven Gerrard earn his Spurs?
One of the biggest (and most expected) talking points about Spurs 4th place finish has been who we are going to buy in the summer. I think the general feeling is that we have a great squad with strength-in-depth, but we need one or two ‘world class’ players in order to step up to the next level. Harry was on talksport today saying something along those lines. We have money, but not the sort of money needed to sign the Benzema, Kaka and Pato type players of this world. I have stated before that I feel the Champions League can be a ‘poison chalice’ if great care is not taken to manage the club appropriately while participating in it. Let’s take Liverpool as an example. They now stand to lose Gerrard and Torres (and Lord knows who else) due to not qualifying for next seasons Champions League. They appear as fair game to me.
