generally, bass chords get muddy when played on more than 2 strings, sometimes you can do a three string chord on the high 3 strings, but generally, the lower the notes, the harder it is to get clean sounding chords. i mainly stick with 2 note chords, 1-minor 3, 1-3, 1-5, 1-minor 7, 1-8, just play around with em and learn your theory so that you know how to construct partial chords and you will be fine.
