Could someone tell me what difference is between AC and DC power supplies and what are the benefits.?
AC power benefits – you can use simple transformers to step up or step down the voltage, which is very useful for power transmission. Power generation in AC is easier, as the natural waveform from a generator is a sine wave (AC). AC is the natural choice for power generation and high power transmission over long distances. DC power benefits – DC can easily be stored in batteries. DC power supplies are best used in low power, low voltage circuits. Devices that use heavy duty traction motors, such as electric trains and trams, also tend to use DC. DC traction motors provide maximum torque from standstill.
