Could someone please explain the different political parties during Nazi Germany?
Well in the Weimar Republic, the democratic period preceeding Nazi Germany, there where a variety of political parties at work. Some of the more important ones were: The German National People’s Party (DVNP) – a rightwing conservative party with monarchist leanings, gradually moved from a aristocratic base to a more populist nationalist one – they were moderate nationalists who attempted to reign in the Nazis on several occasions in an attempt to form a right wing coalition. Social Democratic Party of Germany (SDP) – a moderate left-wing party opposed to the hardline revolutionary attitude of communism and dedicated to further socialist principles, they played a central role in Weimar government and formed several coalitions with minor parties. Where the largest party before the rise of NSDAP and then became the second largest. Communist Party (KPD) – as it says in the name, a Marxist party committed to the overthrow of the capitalist system and the installation of a communist state. T
