Could second hand smoke caused me a cronic cough for 4 years?

Second hand smoke is an unlikely cause for a chronic cough, but if the exposure is significant then it could possibly lead to a chronic cough. There are several possible causes for a chronic cough, such as asthma, gastroesophageal reflux disease (heartburn), postnasal drip from chronic sinusitis or seasonal allergies, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. There are some other rare causes. Medications can also be associated with a chronic cough especially the Ace inhibitors (Lisinopril, Enalapril, Accupril, etc.), but I doubt you are on them since you are 17. It is good that you have been evaluated for asthma. I don’t know if you have symptoms of the other causes, such as heartburn or postnasal drip. See your doctor if you are concerned so that the cause and appropriate treatment can be determined. Good luck.
