Could Obama election be consider a mild revolution or better yet, a movement, like the hippie movement?

I think it was for a lot of young people who realize the many mistakes of the Bush administration. You say Barack Obama encouraged a majority of young white Americans to go against the “wrong” which their parents and grandparents had or tried to instill in them, and I think that might be true for some, but I think most of the young people who voted for him saw no color at all. Most young people voted him for him because he is the opposite of George Bush, and a lot of young people are fed up of old conservatives dictating how everybody should live their life. Obama is a fresh new young face, and that’s what a lot of people want for America.

I would say so…. although we didn’t really abandon our consumerist lifestyles like the hippies did, and it wasn’t quite as drastic, the dramatic increase in the youth vote, mostly to vote for Obama, does share some similiarities with the 60’s counter-culture revolution. I think people of (our) age group are dissatisfied with politicians on both sides, and Obama seems to us to be quite a drastic different type of politician than we have been force fed throughout our lives. It’s certainly a statement for me, and I think it is similarly for other young people in America.
