Could North Wales produce the next NBA basketball star?

It might not be a traditional hotbed of the sport, but schoolchildren in the region are currently getting professional coaching from as far away as the USA and Trinidad as they prepare for a showdown on the courts against teams from across the border. In a bid to find the next generation of basketball talent, BiG Storage Cheshire Jets are sending their top players out to schools in Flintshire as they look to spread the word about a sport which is one of the fastest growing in popularity in the UK. The British Basketball League side are running a “Hoops 4 Health” programme, in which children receive professional coaching as they train to face each other in an inter-school competition, while also learning from sporting role models the benefits of a healthy lifestyle – and particularly of not smoking.
