Could “No arms in Beirut” become the theme for the end of illegitimate arms in the Lebanese Capital?
All Lebanese are demanding the implementation of the Constitution and laws, which forbid the possession and transfer of weapons unless by specific license. Thus, “No illegitimate arms in Beirut” slogan is a very normal process and an irrevocable purpose ever. Some might say this is an unachievable goal due to the crisscrossing international and regional interests with the Lebanese ones, and the foreign role of these weapons. This though can be true but it is also the main and first reason to let go these weapons and cut ties with foreign powers. All parties must know that the interests of Lebanon and the Lebanese should be a priority over any other interests either regional or international. Additionally, the widespread of weapons among citizens is an abnormal phenomenon and contradicts with the simplest conditions of building civilized societies, because it reflects underdevelopment and permanently threatens its holder and the society as well.
