Yes, he probably could. Napoleon was a very capable, if not simply brilliant general. It’s not just tactics that make a great general. Logistics, dicipline and probably most of all, the standig of a general towards his troops has been proved to be very important in winning campaigns or battles. Take the masters from ancient history, like Alexander the Great and Hannibal, they had a very good relation with their troops, and their soldiers had a profound trust in their leaders. This was also the case, though probably a bit less, with Napoleon and his troops. Don’t forget Napolean forged quite an Empire, which was unheared of in western Europe. What is to compare with the taking of large parts of the trained battlegrounds of Europe? So he was quite a hero, who proved he was good at tactics, and so respected by his men. But he was against dire odds. He was facing, among others, Prussian, Dutch and English troops, an alliance of unknown proportions. This army was led by Wellington, who in t
