Not to steer you from your idea but you may find a now deceased military man by name of Philip J. Corso interesting. He apparently had a gift for being very adept at reverse engineering and was originally assigned by the military to help in finding out how German weapons were built. The very interesting part is told in a book written by him called “The Day After Roswell”. Anyway, he apparently was sent to help reverse engineer some devices supposedly found from the Roswell crash site. He comments about how time travel isnt as complicated as it sounds.
