The Learning Institute offers a two-hour ‘Welcome to the University’ event, open to all new staff, and a one-and-a-half-hour ‘History of the University’ lecture. The first provides invaluable information about the current structures and workings of the University and the latter a fascinating outline of the institution’s origins and development. The latter offers something of interest to the ‘tourist’, certainly, and there are good local commercial companies that offer further opportunities.
