Could I therefore respectfully suggest that your concerns be raised with Brookthorpe and Whaddon Parish Council?
Stratford Park is a wonderful example of well maintained gardens, local sports facility, museum and children’s play area. However I was appalled to discover that dog owners are permitted to let their dogs run freely around the children’s play area, most of which were bullterriers and other powerful breeds. With all of the horrific stories making front page news, why is Stroud District Council not taking a proactive stance and safeguarding (by enforcement) our children from possible attack? At the very least, fence in the children’s play area, or ideally create a dog walking area and let the children run free. Stroud District Council does not have a ‘Dogs on Leads’ Byelaw, therefore, owners are at liberty to walk them off the lead, but have a duty to keep them under control. I appreciate your concerns and have searched our records for any complaints regarding dogs out of control in the play area.
