Could I receive a virus by receiving faxes and voice messages from Faxxis?
Viruses can only be spread by files that run a program directly, such as file attachments with .exe, .vbs and .dll extensions. Documents that can include and run programmable scripts called macros, such as Microsoft Word (.doc) or Excel files (.xls), can also contain viruses. You should always use a virus checker program to scan any file that could contain a virus before opening it, especially if the file was sent to you from an unknown source. Faxxis faxes are sent as TIFF or PDF files and will have the file extension .tif or .pdf. TIFF and PDF files are simple image files, and do not contain any computer code that can run a program directly, malicious or otherwise. Faxxis Voice messages are sent as wave files, which contain no computer code that can run programs directly.
