Could i make a gas powered go kart with acceleration like an electric?
Electric has the fantastic acceleration because electric motors have peak torque and 0 RPM. Gas engines have to generate many RPMs to generate torque. On youtube you can find electric vehicles beating Lamborghini and Porsche and Corvette in the 1/4 mile. Because the accelerate great. The top speed is the problem. On a go-kart, you probably have to pick top speed (gas) or fast acceleration (electric). Or…. you could make a hybrid and kick everyone else at the track… 🙂 Also… 40 HP? You know, you can only transfer so much torque through the wheels to the ground. Go over that, and you are just spinning tires and wasting money.
