Could human/animal hybrid embryos mean new deadly diseases?

As far as I know, gene therapy does not involve hybrid embryos. Research currently does involve viruses, but I doubt that it could yield a supervirus or something because the scientists aim to make them *less* pathogenic so they can use them to deliver genes. I think its much more likely that bird flu (if it is going to become pandemic) will cross with seasonal flu in an ordinary human carrying both viruses.
