Could guys still stay in US millitary when TB test comes out as positive result?
Yes, I know from experience because my test came back positive a couple of years ago. A positive skin test result means you just have the infection and not the disease. If you had the disease you would be coughing allot and have lots of chest pains. Your only contagious and at risk if you have the disease. After your test comes back positive for the infection your put on medication that will get rid of the infection, because if the infection goes untreated, it could metabolize into the disease. This medicine is known as “Isoniazid” and has adverse side effects on the liver so you cannot drink any alcohol while on the medication and you have to take it for 6-9 months. They will take blood test every month to make sure the medication isn’t hurting your liver. Afterward, your as healthy as can be. You will be allowed to continue to serve in the military and re-enlist, but you will be at a slightly higher risk for contracting TB again so you have to be on the lookout for the symptoms of TB
