Could Dwindling Testosterone Levels Decrease Sleep In Middle-Aged Men?
A recent study at the University of Montreals Department of Psychology found a link between Testosterone levels in men over 50 yrs and their quality of sleep-especially deep sleep. The study did not find a correlation with other parts of the sleep cycle: falling asleep, stages 1 or 2 & paradoxical sleep. According to the study it is the dwindling Testosterone levels that impact sleep and not vice versa as previously suggested. The findings also support the possibility that the loss of deep sleep in these middle-aged men could be treated with Testosterone.
