Could Delta Force have pulled off the Iranian Embassy Siege Operation the way the SAS did?
I hate people who ask these questions. There is no giant, humongous, gargantuan gap in terms of skill when it comes to the SAS and Delta. The people on here would have you believe that one SAS commando could take out ten Delta Operators with his eyes close and it’s just ridiculous. This is the UK section section so everyone is obviously biased towards the SAS. Go to the American section and I guarantee you’ll find a dozen people telling you why Delta is better. The fact is these guys train AND work together. SAS has been around longer and they are probably slightly better but the gap isn’t as big as some people like to think. Delta Force is regarded as one of the top Special Forces units in the entire world. To call them inept is just ridiculous. Some genius said that Delta has never completed anything difficult… Let me ask you this. How the hell do you know? You DO know that everything Delta does is tightly concealed by the Pentagon. Hell, the US government even denies the existence
Delta Force is the elite regiment in the US army. SAS, Delta Force and SASR are all very similar in skill and prestige (although SASR troopers get paid a lot more than Delta Force). From my experience in TAG West, it is very hard to say that each operation is exactly the same, but the technique is very similar.
