COPD can be caused by inhaling second hand smoke. My husband has COPD – emphysema through smoking all his life, and I think myself lucky my lungs and my childrens lungs (so far) have not been damaged by his terrible habit. He refused to go outside to smoke and the house absolutely stank of cigarettes, we had numerous arguments about his smoking but it fell on deaf ears. Now he can’t walk anywhere as he cannot breathe and needs help with day to day things. I help all I can, but I do begrudge the fact that he has spoiled our lives when we could now, the boys have left home, start going on holidays etc and enjoying ourselves. I haven’t had a holiday for three years because he can’t go on anaeroplanee or walk to and from hotels, and he is so very obstinate he will not get a mobility scooter. Even now hisstubbornnesss is spoiling our lives.
