Could currents carry oil slick ashore in South Florida?
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Longtime opponents of drilling off Florida’s coast, U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson and U.S. Rep Debbie Waserman Schultz are concerned oil from the Deepwater Horizon rig explosion could get into the northeastern Gulf of Mexico’s loop current and then the Gulf Stream and be washed ashore on some of the Keys and even southeast Florida beaches.
